Kelly de Castro -  Fire Relief

In the spirit of trusting in an All Providing God, we seek your support, dear CFC member.

We continue to appeal for assistance in any way for a member of Trina Fung's handmaid household in St Ann's.  Her name is Kelly de Castro, and she has an 8-year-old son and a 4-month-old baby. There was a fire at her home Monday 12th Sept that destroyed most of their belongings. So we are appealing to all our CFC brothers and sisters for any assistance that they may be able to offer, her most immediate need is housing ….. if you hear of anything please contact Trina Fung 678-4242

CFC 6th Caribbean Conference

Post Conference Evaluations have been overwhelmingly positive.  As an example, Sr. Therese Dookeran writes “I really would like to 'big you all up' for a lovely spirit and good organisation.  I know behind the scenes is another story, but you all rose to every moment.  I left feeling very encouraged: seven years, and this is certainly a story of growth!  Praise God.”  Except for a few odd incidents the feedback from our overseas brethren has been effusive about the warm Trini hospitality, the smooth organisation, the low cost, the inspiration and encouragement.

On behalf of the organising team we respond that hosting this conference has been further confirmation that God is indeed enough, because every time that we thought we didn’t have enough resources; be they money, time, energy, zeal, ideas or labour force, our loving Father has exceeded our expectations.  Our “cup runneth over”. Thank you CFC. Thank you Our Lord, Our Shepherd.

Joey & Jonathan

Joey Mercado & Jonathan Lumamba have concluded their mission to Trinidad and returned home to the Philippines.  These two talented and committed young Christians who served our CFC ministry in Trinidad for the last year and a half have enriched our lives.  Although they volunteered for 1 year of service, they both consented to extend their mission when our needs required it.  They served not only YFC but were invaluable at all areas of ministry: couples, handmaids, servants, singles, youth and kids.  They extended beyond CFC and were often seen at non-CFC youth retreats in parishes.  In fact for Lent they were continually in demand at schools; very often at short notice.  We had grown so accustomed to depending upon them that it was no surprise that at the recent CFC Conference they were part of the T&T contingent as well as the Philippino.  But we know that their families must have missed them even though we thought of them as our own, so it is with mixed emotions that we bid them goodbye and thank you.  Will we see them again?  We look forward to it!!

Morvant General Assembly

Morvant General Assembly takes place on  Saturday 17th September At St. Dominic’s R.C. Church, Morvant

September 24th

·    Jesus Explosion at Preysal.  It’s back and we are providing the music ministry so come on down to Preysal High School.  Just take the highway to south and in the vicinity of Couva look for the sign on the left exit off the highway. Regn: $25.00, Food: $15.00, Blessings:  Free.

§         Social Justice Training for Mentoring Program. This is critical for us to fulfil our mandate of “bringing good news to the poor” but  the training scheduled for Saturday 24th September has been cancelled and will be rescheduled to a later date as Sr. Julie Peters is still out of the country.

However, please do not let this postpone our action in the parish to identify a family and meet with them. The postponement of the meeting gives those persons who have not yet identified a family an opportunity to do so.

If you don’t have a clue about what social justice or mentoring program we are talking about,  please do not hesitate to contact Mark Poon Tip who will be happy to fill you in or you may also contact Earl Taylor, as Diego Martin have already identified and had their first meeting with a family. We may learn from their experience and their approach

 EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS

For the week October 10th to 16th 2005 the Archdiocese of Port of Spain will be closing the Year of the Eucharist with a week of celebration that culminates at Jean Pierre Complex on October 16th.  Couples for Christ has the responsibility of ushering at this national event.  So please volunteer to your Unit Head for duty.
