Eyes on FEED Ministry

No it is not about food…. ( Oh gorsh allyuh Trinis eh! )  FEED is a CFC ministry all about Family Enrichment & Education and we are looking for goodly couples to spearhead it locally. CFC’s Family Enrichment and Education …… (sounds big eh).  But pray about it, think about and e-mail: …………………….  if you are in the least bit interested.  Now while all of FEED’s programs may not be needed locally we thought you should know just how wide its offerings are so maybe we will refer to the official document for this excerpt:

Vision: FEED as a welfare ministry of CFC seeks to develop and sustain love and respect for life, to uphold the dignity of a human person and to maintain the true vision of family in this changing world. (love, respect, dignity? We need dat !)

Mission: The FEED ministry has the following purposes:

1.   To serve the CFC community by providing specialized inputs and support for the CFC family life renewal ministry, by developing pro-life and pro-family attitudes among all its members, and by being a training ground for the continuous education and formation of family life workers. ( family life  support? We need dat !)

2.  To serve the Church and society by promoting values that are pro-God, pro-life and pro-family.(We need dat! )

3.  To serve the larger community (parishes, local government units, corporations) by offering practical specialized courses. (Lord knows ….We need dat !)

Areas of service

FEED Ministry has various areas of service…..providing courses and activities that are specialized offerings to meet specific needs.

1. Marriage Preparation Program (MPP).  (We need dat !)

     * Objective: to prepare couples for marriage (a pre-Cana course).

     * Available for SFC engaged couples in a weekend format, as well as for CFC and non-CFC members in parishes.

2. Responsible parenthood. (Oh Gorsh ..We need dat !)

      * Objective: to foster a deeper understanding of human sexuality and human love relationship in marriage.

      * This caters to the needs of CFC members and other couples in terms of morally acceptable methods of Responsible Parenthood.

      * In particular, the aim is to promote the use of Natural Family Planning (NFP).

3. Parenting. (We over-need dat !)

           * Objective: to equip parents with basic knowledge of effective parenting skills.

           * Family counselling services.

           * Programs for enhancing family relationships.

4. Marriage tribunal ministry. (We need dat !)

      * This orients CFC members, especially leaders, about the validity or invalidity of a

         solemnized marriage, for pastoral purposes.

      * Guidance and practical help is provided those couples or individuals who are thinking or planning to apply for a declaration of nullity from the Church Marriage Tribunal.

5. Counselling. (We cyah even say how much we need dat !)

      * Actual counselling service for those in need.   AND    * Training of counsellors.

6. The Gabriel Project. (Mmmhmm dat too)

      * Care for pregnant women in crisis.

      * Promotion of foster child care.

7. Galilean Ministry (We need dat !)

      * Care for persons with disabilities.

8. Ruth’s Ministry. (Oh yes, we could do wid dat !)

      * Care for couples in their golden years,    * Care for the aged     * Hospice care center.

9. FEED Resource Center.  (We need dat too !)

      * Support for the pastoral needs of CFC by way of providing a library of books, magazines, audio/video tapes and a pool of resource speakers for the promotion of the culture of life.

Networking

FEED Ministry will network with other ministries and organizations in order to more effectively accomplish its mission.  (Yes Lord, thank you for FEED. We need dat)

CFC Strategic Plans 2005

Did you ever wonder what leaders do at Strategic Plans Meetings  On November 13 2004 they met at Mt. St. Benedict to seek God’s guidance and instruction for CFC in 2005.  After spirited praise and worship there was a review of the CFC year 2004.  What an eventful year: CLPs, synod implementation, Trini-T-3, web-site launch, music ministry, mission center with missionaries!!  Following the review, unit leaders were divided into their strategic teams to discern God’s plan for CFC T&T in specific areas. Some of these are Evangelisation, Giving Kare, Youth, Leadership Formation and Communications.  Of course that’s not meant to limit God to those areas. Who could have foretold the amazing growth and evangelising effect of our Music Ministry in 2004? The proposed plans are then presented, prayed about, fine tuned and once they are finalised, implementation begins.   So look forward to receiving more details about 2005 plans.

CFC Caribbean Conference Countdown

9 months to go and our conference organizers are working at a pace to make it happen: ..… accommodation, transportation, registration, finance, hospitality, décor, stage management, food, liturgy, communication, ….and more…..wow!  That’s a lot of work, but they are undaunted because they know that when they call on us members, our willing response will be “Here I am Lord”.  In fact, why wait to be called?  If you have resources or skills in any area listed above why not contact mark__wendy@cfctrinidadandtobago.org and offer yourself? Don’t worry about how you will do it; remember the theme for our Caribbean Conference is "God is Enough!"

CFC 7th Anniversary

CFC 7th Anniversary celebrations commence on Monday 17th January with holy Mass at St. John the Baptist in San Juan and continue all week long, culminating with Family Day on Sunday23rd January .  All members are invited / requested to be at the various events, to support, get to know each other and join in the celebrations.  See you there.

Faith Facts

So 4 weeks before Christmas day the church celebrates Advent and dresses itself in purple.  Now why does the Church wear mourning colours and ask me to fast and have Confession when Christmas parties and food are plentiful?  What is Advent?  For this and more visit our homepage.
