Formation Retreat

Congratulations to the Leadership & Formation Team on producing an inspiring retreat weekend.   On August 14th & 15th at St. Xavier’s St. Joseph, all Household Leaders, Unit Leaders and Council Leaders assembled for CFC Formation & Training.  Having been welcomed, name-tagged and given our retreat packages we were immediately enveloped in the praise and worship.>I must make mention of the music ministry on this weekend, whether it was our honorary Trini, Jonathan, our impromptu guitarist Francisca or the wake-up-and-love-the-Lord enthusiasm of Paramin, every musician and singer was a blessing.  But the retreat was more than music.>The speakers were insightful, and anointed.>Fr. Graham, Fr. Chambers, Fr. Rodriguez, Fr. Dwight Merrick, Fr. Ferdinand Warner, Carl Lara and Winston Garcia all delivered sound teaching and ministry so that the worship level rose after each delivery as God made himself present through their words.   May God bless these men who have consecrated themselves to Him.  Amen

 YFC National Conference

Couples for Christ YFC Conference carried the theme “Radical for Christ” and that’s just what our young people have to be in order to fulfil their vision of

Trinidad & Tobago for Christ in 3 years

Trini-T-3

The YFC National Conference on Saturday 21st August at Chinese Association POS revealed a wealth of giftedness and energy channelled into that vision.>Despite a late start the praise team lifted the hearts into united worship.  The joy was contagious.  When Sr. Kathy (Archdiocesan Episcopal Delegate for Youth) was asked for comments, she could barely speak her enthusiasm at being part of the excitement.  After a praise-filled opening (see photo) , remarks from Sr., and guest performance from “For Better Christians”, YFC prepared for games. What unique games those were!!!  Congratulations to all the winners especially Sangre Grande who copped the majority of prizes. During lunch all participants old and young were treated to an explosion of talents as the Dance and Singing competitions began.  Those boys are ooooozing talent, the moooooves were smoooooth , the liiiines were fiiiine, the costuming was edgy and the judges had my sympathy.

The program resumed with a high-energy and very chic fashion show.  But the tone turned deeply serious when Jonathan, Jerome and Joey came on; each sharing tools for empowering youths to be RADICAL for CHRIST. The accompanying testimony and skits endorsed that message, preparing our participants to renew their commitment to God by coming forward to be prayed over: an appropriate response to a day when we had been given so much.

Special mention must be made of the drama team who managed to entertain with their thought-provoking skit; and of the Maraval/Paramin Team whose members formed the service team behind Joey & Jonathan in organising and putting on this conference. The décor, music, games, bandanas, fashion show, sparkles, speakers, T-shirts, all affirmed the exhilaration of being Radical For Christ.  (See cfctrinidadandtobago.org for more photos)

SFC Pro-Life Training

The Roman Catholic Church’s teaching on abortion, contraception and other related issues seems contradictory to the world’s teaching but which one is the Truth?  On Sunday 22nd August at Fatima Parish Hall, Bushe St. Curepe our Singles for Christ gathered for training, discussion and evaluation on these weighty topics.  There were eye-opening presentations from Pascualina & Jeffrey Horford, Matthew Martinez and our own Mark Dopwell at the end of which, our SFC members are now overwhelmingly convinced that our Church truly is “the Guardian of Truth”.>Additionally their training has now equipped them to present that Truth to others with conviction and love.>Well Done Singles for taking the lead on these important issues.

CFC Music Ministry

Our CFC Music Ministry was invited to join in the 1st ever Praise-A-Thon at Living Water Community on Sunday 29th August.  In a combined choir with “For Better Christians” our representatives kept the praise and worship soulful for an hour of ministry on live TV!!

Dean of the Regional Seminary Dr Everard Johnston and Touch of Christ Community volunteer translator Francesca Monsegue strike interesting hand positions on the opening day of Liturgy School 2004. Dr Johnston was speaking as the resource person for last Monday's topic while Monsegue translated his presentation. Raymond Syms photo

She sings, she plays the guitar and as our roving reporter discovered she also signs for the deaf. The multi-talented Francisca Monsegue is always busy because she has a servant’s heart and willingly puts her talents at the service of God’s people.

Faith Facts

As Roman Catholics we are encouraged to read, and study Scripture (ref “Dei Verbum” of Vatican II Documents). It is even part of our CFC Covenant!!  But although you often wished you understood the bible, and wished you would read it more, sometimes it is so confusing.  Well below is the schedule of classes at the Catholic Bible Institute, classes are simple, you only have to commit the time. So call them, register and trust God.
