Responsible ParentingOn Saturday May 7, 2005, Singles For Christ hosted the first in a
series of three seminars on the topic of Responsible Parenting. With just about twenty 'singles' in attendance, the event commenced after nine o'clock with a round of praise and worship. After welcoming in the Holy Spirit we then settled in for the start of proceedings. This took the form of an interactive discussion about our feelings and past experiences. We touched briefly on some of the myths associated with parenthood and
some of its challenges. During this period, Deidre Richards, was a
master faciliator as she skilfully balanced the proceedings by
interjecting some of her own experiences while enc She then made way for the two key speakers of the event - Earl
and Sandra Theodore. They livened up the occasions with a few stories
about their own parenting experiences. They then on focussed on setting up
the spiritual framework of parenting. God so ordained it that for the
important activities of our lives He added pleasure to ensure that we
fulfilled our responsibility. Thus both pleasure and responsibilty go
together. You cannot have one without the other.
Overall the seminar was really effective. You definitely would have missed something really special if you fail to be present for the next two sessions which will take place on Saturday June 4th and July 2nd, 2005 at the Catholic Centre (next to the Cathedral) from 8:30am to 12 noon.
